Scary German Dogs...

Oh no, and I don't mean the German Shepards or the Rottweilers... Tonight I was on a walk, not 10 feet from my door when I was 'attacked' by a shoebox sized terrier. The thing charged me, teeth bared, growlin' and barking. I mean this thing flew for me ankles at top speed.

So I did what any self respecting person in this situation would do, I hunched up and screamed like a girl. Sadly, the owners were right there to witness my bravery (or lack there of). Her response in German was pretty much
"suprised you, eh?" me, "yeah, huh." The little bugger kept at it, while its owner yelled that I was a nice lady and meant it no harm. My pride and my trust of rat sized dogs are both diminished,

Didn't this also happen in Canada

One of my favorite memories of traveling is when we were camping in Canada... Nova Scotia (wasn't it?).

We were camped along a tree line with the park road just on the other side. It was a hot day and so Juli decided to take a "bath"... nearby out of my sight with a bucket and a towel. I was minding the camp, when Juli came running as fast as she could... mostly naked... arms flaring... with a small towel covering her chest... Screaming... She got to camp and flung herself into the tent. (Good thing it was open.) At first I could not figure out what was going on... thinking that there was some sort of bug after her... But on second glance, I saw the dog running behind her. When he got to the camp, he simply veered to the right paid no attention to us. Didn't even stop to say hello.

Turns out that a man was out "walking his dog". By walking the dog, this ingenious dog owner was driving his truck and the dog was keeping pace with it. Since, I could see that it was not after Juli and only interested in the truck and his owner, I got to see the whole event unfold. Makes me laugh to this day.

I take it you, Juli, are the other vote for "Scream like a little girrrrllll."

Oh dear, me

Too Funny!  I had completely forgotten, or repressed those memories!  Let me correct a couple of things.  It was quite early in the morning and I opted for the first bucket bath.  The campground we were at wasn't open for the season yet and we were illegals.  No water or facilities.  And it was a couple out walking their dog.  He did stop to greet you though but you were to busy laughing at my foolishness.  It was terrifying.  And yes, I did vote for the screaming like a girl.  HRUmph.  as if there is anything wrong with that.

Alzehimer's again

The couple... no. It was DEFINATELY a guy in the truck "walking" his dog. Never in my life had I seen that and I've never seen it again in my life. I could not even DREAM that one up. I am certain of it.

As far as morning or afternoon, in my mind it was a wicked hot day that day and we were sweating pretty bad. You decided to cool off with a bath. Seems like the afternoon to me... perhaps mid morning. Seems like I was already dressed and ready to go... didn't we come up from the beach?

The dog stopping to say hello- don't remember that. It would have been a quick sniff and he was gone.

Me laughing hard at your fooliness.. That you hit the head right smack on the head!

When I lived with Jodi in California I liked to walk in the morning.  Jodi and I had a great route-dog free and full of hills.  Well I decided that I needed to expand the route a mile for a better work out.  I got in Owen and plotted out a new route that seemed wonderful.  The next morning I started the new routine.  I was miles from home when this thing came charging and grunting out of the bushes.  I took off running-it took chase and was in close pursuit. . . I was screaming and running and terrified.  It turned out to be a pot bellied pig!  It tired out after a couple of blocks!  I walked with a cane after that to pummelt any aggressor on its head. . . I also returned to my old route. ~sigh~
